Saturday, June 6th 12-2:00pm abstract expressionist artist, Stacey M. Schultze, will be at Otis Library for the opening reception of her series ‘Tiny Houses’. The event will include light refreshments. Based on the book A Place of My Own by Michael Pollan, ‘Tiny Houses’ explores the concept of space in terms of both literal dimension and figurative sense. Each piece correlates with an idea directly from Pollan’s book. Reflected is the notion of a dwelling as an escape from societal structure and the constrictive nature of the places we inhabit. A balance of abstraction and objective subjects work together to develop the crux behind the individual works. Evocative of Pollan’s recollection of building his own ‘tiny house, earthy hues lend themselves to the sensation of dirt beneath the fingernails and calluses on the palms from a day of physical exertion. The exhibition runs through the month of June. Otis Library is located at 48 N Main Road Otis, MA. For more information visit StaceyMSchultze.com or www.townofotisma.com.

The gallery, a former church, provides a unique setting with wonderful energy to exhibit Schultze's dynamic, abstract art. The “6x6” series, as a whole, reads like a catalog of recognizable songs. The familiarity of each piece will immediately pull the viewer in and allow for the comfort necessary to sit and explore. Traditional ideals concerning space are challenged as bold lines and, at times, sweeping brushstrokes deny the confines of the literal surface.

New Work by Featured Artists Stacey M Schultze & Sarah Lapp
Thank the Marine Corps for this flavorful combination. Both artists, Stacey M Schultze and Sarah Lapp as well as the owners of Bistro Bethem, Abby and Blake Bethem, discovered Fredericksburg while stationed in the area. The quaint downtown, thriving arts community, and plethora of good taste and fine dining lured them into calling Virginia home.
Bistro Bethem is known not only for their delicious cuisine highlighting locally sourced meats, cheeses and produce, but also for their discretionary art exhibits. Honored to be chosen, Sarah and Stacey will display new abstract works exploring the transition between winter and spring at this acclaimed venue. Throughout the months of February and March, patrons will be delighted by both artistic and culinary talent. Bistro Bethem is the perfect venue for your Valentine's Day, with a sweetheart of a menu. Add the gift of an original painting from Stacey M Schultze or Sarah Lapp, an enduring symbol of your love, and you will have memories to cherish for eternity.
This exhibition highlights a perfect combination of large and small works, quiet and bold colors, and an all-encompassing element of surprise. Join the artists for the opening reception February 8, 2015, 2:30-4:30 at Bistro Bethem, 309 William St., Fredericksburg, VA. The show will be on display from February 2 to April 6, 2015 during normal operating hours.
Opening January 16th and on display through March 9th, The Member's Show at Crossroads Center for the Arts, highlights local talent. My work, "Ask," from my Seen and Unseen series is included in this exhibition as my debut into the Richmond, VA area. I am looking forward to sharing more work with the residents and visitors of the capital city of Virginia in the coming months. So, "Hello RVA, it is lovely to meet you and hope to see more of you soon!"
I am honored to be included in the January Invitational Show at Brush Strokes Gallery on Caroline St. in Fredericksburg, VA. Each gallery member invited an artist to show their work for the first month of 2015. You can see one of my newest 6x6 works on paper in their front window. "Abundant" was inspired by the advent season and Christ's impending birth. This piece depicts Mary full with child and bearing the weight of the world's salvation in her womb.
Be sure to stop by and take in the diverse talent showcased at Brush Strokes this month!
